Posted on 5 mins ago

Ciao a tutti. Oh boy, what a month. February has been highly filled up with workshops in the DRONI office. Maybe we set a record ? We should check on DRONI’s chronicles. 23 years of existence and work is a lot, and we are thankful that our members are always providing new activities and workshop ideas from a month after another. And for the shortest of the year, we saw many young Georgians attending various workshops, rich in outcomes and interactivity.

Local Events

→ Get Ready Workshop: “Explore Tenerife : Nature, Culture and Life”, 4th February

The attendance was great and involvement from the audience was fantastic. We shared all the knowledge and information that we gained from the project and showed participants pictures and videos from it. We had different types of activities to make our workshop diverse and to make each participant actively engaged in the learning process. In the end, we also share all the good memories, pictures of nature of Tenerife, ocean, plants and our amazing group.

→ Get Ready Workshop: “Zine for Sustainability”, 6th February

Participants discovered what zines are and why they are such a powerful tool for self-expression. After learning a bit about their history, everyone created their own zines about sustainable living, using drawings, collages and text. The workshop was creative, hands-on and full of personal ideas and conversations.

→ Get Ready Workshop: “Enebi”, 6th February

The workshop, “Enebi” (Languages), was an opportunity to explore and express the sometimes misunderstood world of languages. Despite the European Union’s efforts to promote language learning and provide translations in all 24 of its official languages, most Europeans speak only one language. If they speak a second language, it is usually English, which is not spoken by any other country in the EU. During the workshop, participants learned why learning languages is important and received practical suggestions for doing so. There was also an enjoyable cultural exchange about Georgian culture.

→ Get Ready Workshop: “How does noise affect us?”, 9th February

We explored sound as something we often ignore, but that deeply affects our mood and health. Through listening exercises and simple experiments, participants reflected on how different sounds make them feel, learned how to protect their hearing and even measured noise levels using their phones. It was an eye-opening session that encouraged people to listen more carefully to the world around them.

→ Get Ready Workshop: Franguli filmi #4 : La Haine by Mathieu Kassovitz (1995), 11th February

The screening of the film La haine (1995) went very well. Before we started the film, we gave the audience a presentation to set the cultural, historical and social context of the movie, as well as its impact on French society and cinema. The 1h40 footage has been followed by some speech about the message delivered by the movie and current situation in France.

→ Get Ready Workshop: “Dive into photography even if you can’t swim”, 13th February

A fun and relaxed session where participants explored photography in a different way. Through games and creative exercises, they learned to see and capture images beyond their usual habits, focusing more on observation, curiosity and play rather than technical rules.

→ Get Ready Workshop: “CV Writing Workshop”, 16th February

The workshop was focused on the practical skill of learning how to design a convincing CV and how to create a portfolio for job applications. The objectives of the workshop were to improve confidence with creating a CV and portfolio and also to equip participants with the knowledge of when to use CV and when to use portfolio. The objectives were achieved by providing the participants with tools to create CV and portfolio as well as interactively practicing the given input through puzzles and creating a handout for how to create a CV. An especially interactive part of the workshop was a fun but competitive game in the end during which participants had to up-grade a bad CV with the knowledge and tools provided during the workshop.

→ Get Ready Workshop: Čekhuri filmi #5 : Pelísky by Jan Hrebejk (1999), 18th February

Pelísky (1999) depicts Christmas Eve between two Czech families in 1967. The end of a period of innocence in Czech society before the long winter… Our volunteer Jakub was here to give some historical and political context related to the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968 and the decades of authoritarianism which followed.

→ Get Ready Workshop: “Behavioral Science”, 19th February

The session focused on the structural model of the psyche developed by Sigmund Freud, the concepts of the Id, Ego, and Superego, as well as common psychological defense mechanisms.During the workshop, we talked about the defense mechanisms, explaining their psychological functions and their connection to human behavior. To make the session more engaging and practical, we did role-playing where participants worked in small groups and demonstrated different defense mechanisms through short scenarios. At the end of the session, we had a short reflection discussion. From my perspective as a facilitator, the workshop created an interactive learning environment and helped participants develop greater awareness of psychological processes and everyday behavioral patterns.

→ Get Ready Workshop: “The Time Traveler’s Dispatch : Letters from 2036”, 20th February

The workshop focused on helping participants envision their desired future through mindfulness. By selecting one item from the imagined future bedroom to serve as a reminder of that potential and an anchor of hope. During the workshop, the participants wrote a letter from their 2036 self, in the letter they had to underline the challenges that they had gone through during this 10-year period and how they managed to move forward with the challenging times.

The workshop concluded with creating the selected item that would remind them of their future bedroom and future self. The aim of the workshop was to help participants shift the focus from present or past problems to the future position. Switching the focus to the future is a technique frequently used in solution-focused therapy to aid people to picture possible ways out of the struggles that they might be facing.

After the activities, the participants were able to reflect on the working process and be grounded in the moment. Many of the participants requested to have other parts of the workshop, where they would be able to expand their emotional self-awareness. The underlined theory of the workshop was Snyder’s theory of hope, where he notes that hope is a proactive state of mind, where we need a set goal, pathways to get there, and agency, meaning motivation to stay focused throughout the process, while we achieve our desires.

→ Get Ready Workshop: “Freedom and morality”, 24th February

On February 24th, a workshop called “ Freedom and morality” was held. Young people with different interests attended, including future and current students of law and political science.

The session took place in a friendly and calm environment. For many participants, it was their first workshop at Droni. We  gave them basic knowledge about freedom and morality, to simplify material we used clear definitions. It is worth noting that the literary example that we shared was new and interesting for them. The debate on “The Trolley Dilemma” was especially engaging. During debates and group discussions they actively worked on arguments and counterarguments. Participants had lively discussions and sometimes even changed their positions. This helped participants develop their critical thinking skills. The young people showed enthusiasm, interest and respect, which motivated me a lot. Some of them highlighted how relevant the topic is and encouraged discussing similar issues more often.

At the end of the workshop we received positive feedback and continued discussing different viewpoints afterward. Overall, the session went well and I gained valuable experience for improving my future workshops.

→ Get Ready Workshop: “Public Transportation : Networks’ Developments across Europe”, 27th February

The month of February concluded in DRONI with a workshop conducted by our new volunteer Florian from France. Indeed, participants gathered in the office to dive into the subject of Urban Planning and Public Transportation. After having introduced the first notions of Urban Sciences and Geography of Transportation, discussion sparked about the multiple examples of transportation offers across the World and in Georgia, as well as their development prospects. Then, participants were able to draw their own ideal Tbilisi’s public transportation network in printed maps and to showcase their work in front of the others. It led to various interesting ideas and highlighted how inhabitants perceive the development of their own city.

Create and act Team volunteers’ adventures

The first week of Create & Act is behind us, and our Erasmus+ and Team ESC volunteers have officially started their journey in Tbilisi.

The week was all about getting to know each other, discovering the city and building the skills that will support their volunteering experience in the coming months.

It began with an orientation meeting where volunteers received guides and useful information about the project and the activities ahead. To get familiar with their new environment, they explored Tbilisi through a fun city tour and experienced the city together.

Volunteers also started learning the basics of the Georgian language, which will continue in the coming weeks and help them better connect with the local culture and community.

During a Canva workshop, participants learned how to design postcards and will soon create their own unique ones inspired by their experiences in Georgia.

One of the highlights of the week was the cultural night, where each country shared its traditions, culture and stories in a relaxed atmosphere together with DRONI volunteers and friends.

The week finished with a workshop on presentation techniques, where volunteers learned useful tips on how to prepare and lead their own workshops in the future. This is just the beginning, stay tuned to see how our volunteers will create, act and contribute to positive change in the community.

International Projects

→ SYNERGY kick-off in Chișinău, Moldova

Youth Association DRONI took part in the kick-off meeting of the Erasmus+ project SYNERGY, which was held in Chișinău, Moldova. All project partner organisations met for two full working days to officially start the project.

After several online meetings, this was the first time the partners met in person. They got to know each other better, built stronger connections and discussed how they will work together during the project. The partners reviewed the full project programme, clearly defined everyone’s roles and responsibilities, and went through the project timeline and key deadlines.

Each organisation presented the methods and practices they plan to share and test during the project. These presentations helped partners learn from each other and understand how different approaches will be used throughout the project. Together, the partners also planned the upcoming study visits and agreed on their goals and structure.

The kick-off meeting was an important step in creating a shared understanding, strong cooperation and a positive start for the SYNERGY project.

→ “Real Warriors Against Fake News”, held in Hondarribia, Spain

From February 2–10, in the city of Hondarribia, Spain, the Erasmus+ youth exchange “Real Warriors Against Fake News” took place, with the Youth Association Droni represented by six young participants.

The main goal of the project was to raise awareness about misinformation and disinformation, develop critical thinking skills, and empower young people to identify and combat the spread of false information.

The first days of the project were dedicated to group formation, getting to know one another, and creating a safe and inclusive environment. Through non-formal education methods, icebreakers, and team-building activities, participants established shared values and expectations, ensuring active engagement throughout the entire project.

The following days focused on an in-depth analysis of disinformation mechanisms. Participants worked in small groups on various topics, including:

  • Identifying fake news and manipulative narratives;
  • Media and digital literacy;
  • Practical fact-checking tools;
  • The role of artificial intelligence in creating and spreading information;
  • The influence of social media on public opinion.

Activities included simulations, case study analyses, discussions, and creative tasks. Participants explored examples of visual manipulation and created their own small-scale information campaigns.

The project had a significant impact on the participants’ personal and professional development. They strengthened their critical and analytical thinking; communication and teamwork skills; responsibility in sharing information; and intercultural competence.

Cultural evenings and informal interactions helped participants better understand each other’s cultures, values, and experiences, strengthening the sense of solidarity and European cooperation.

At the end of the project, participants developed action plans aimed at sharing the knowledge and experience gained in their home countries — through training, informational meetings, and social media campaigns.

“Real Warriors Against Fake News” was not only an educational experience, but also a process of empowerment that equipped young people with the tools and motivation to actively fight disinformation and become responsible citizens in the media space.

→ “Playground of Inclusion and Understanding”, held in Jablunkov,  Czech Republic

From October 14–22, Zugdidi Gymnasium students, led by the DRONI members, participated in the youth exchange “Playground of Inclusion and Understanding – Youth for Equality and Healthy Lifestyle”, which took place in Jablunkov, Czech Republic.

Here are the reflections of one of the participants about the first day of the project:

“We started the first day of the project with an ice-breaking activity, the main goal of which was to help participants get to know each other, remember names, and learn about one another’s hobbies and favorite sports. The activity helped us create a comfortable and friendly environment, which is especially important when starting to work in an international group.

Afterwards, the project coordinator introduced us in detail to the Erasmus+ programme. During the presentation, we talked about the main objectives of the programme, the specifics of youth projects, the importance of non-formal education, active participation of young people, and European values such as equality, solidarity, and intercultural dialogue.

At the end of the day, we went to the city center, where we were divided into teams and explored the city through fun activities. These activities were both entertaining and educational, and they also helped us start working together and develop our problem-solving skills.

The first day ended in a very positive and productive atmosphere, which created a strong foundation for the successful implementation of the following days of the project”.

During the youth exchange held in Jablunkov, participants were actively involved in innovative activities that helped develop their leadership, communication and teamwork skills. They showed particular interest in new team sports, including Kin-Ball, which requires cooperation, quick reactions and strategic thinking;

One of the most memorable parts of the project was the intercultural evenings, where participating countries presented their traditions, dances, songs, and healthy dishes. These activities further strengthened mutual understanding and friendships among representatives of different cultures.

As part of the creative activities, the young participants created short films and performances addressing important topics such as gender equality, discrimination, and social inclusion. This process gave them the opportunity to freely and creatively express their views.

The experience gained throughout the project was an important step in each participant’s personal growth and in gaining a deeper understanding of European values.
