Winter of kindness Team volunteers’ adventures
New ESC team volunteers are in the place!! They are from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Poland, Belgium, France and Ukraine, taking part in the Winter of kindness project. The project is based on a charitable idea. Over the course of two months, together with Georgian and international volunteers, they will visit children’s homes and elderly care facilities, to create a magical atmosphere and brighten the New Year season with fun and engaging activities. Events and local workshops will also be organized for young people.
→ Scavenger hunt
Our Team ESC and Erasmus+ volunteers began their journey in Georgia with an exciting Tbilisi Scavenger Hunt – the perfect way to discover the city in a fun, interactive and adventurous way.
Divided into two teams, they explored some of Tbilisi’s most iconic and atmospheric spots, from Freedom Square and the charming narrow streets of Old Tbilisi, to the Sulphur Baths of Abanotubani, the Peace Bridge, Sololaki District and the breathtaking view near Kartlis Deda (Mother of Georgia).
Each stop challenged the teams with creative photo tasks, short videos and local interaction missions, encouraging teamwork, cultural exchange and plenty of laughter along the way. The adventure ended at Orbeliani Bazaar, where volunteers tried local snacks and reflected on their day with one word that captured their Tbilisi experience.
Beyond exploring the city, our volunteers also actively participated in preparing and organizing the DRONI New Year Party. This event brought together international volunteers and DRONI members for an evening full of team building activities, games, dancing, singing and joyful moments. It was a great opportunity to connect, celebrate the holiday spirit together and strengthen bonds within the community.
We believe these activities were the perfect start to our Winter of Kindness journey.
→ Visit to Friendly community and Mokhucta Pansionati
On December 24th, our Erasmus+ and Team ESC volunteers made their very first visit to an elderly home within the Friendly Community. During the visit, we organised a variety of engaging and joyful activities for the residents. Chess and backgammon tournaments brought friendly competition and laughter, while make-up and nail painting sessions created moments of care and self-expression. Together, we also hosted a DIY Christmas decoration workshop, filling the space with creativity and festive spirit.
One of the most touching moments was the “get to know each other” activity, where elderly participants introduced themselves and shared Christmas traditions from their regions. The day ended with a cheerful karaoke session, where music brought everyone together. The residents were incredibly open, happy and eager to communicate, and they expressed their gratitude through warm conversations and heartfelt smiles. To make the day even more special, they welcomed us with churchkhela and homemade cakes, turning the visit into a truly shared celebration. On December 25th, our team continued spreading kindness with a second visit to Mokhucta Pansionati. We brought small gifts for the beneficiaries and organized an interactive handcraft and DIY workshop.
The elderly residents showed great enthusiasm and creativity, especially during the Christmas decoration activities, where everyone participated with genuine excitement. Beyond the workshops, we spent time in meaningful discussions, listening to their stories, receiving their blessings and sharing moments of warmth and mutual respect. The atmosphere was filled with positive emotions and sincere connections, making the visit unforgettable for both the residents and our team. These days remind us that sometimes the simplest actions – time, attention and kindness – can create the most powerful memories.
→ Visit to Caritas children’s home
On December 29, within the framework of the European Solidarity Corps and Erasmus+ program, our volunteers visited the Caritas Children’s Home, continuing our Winter of Kindness activities.
The visit began with introductions, as volunteers and children got to know each other and created a friendly, open atmosphere. Soon after, the space was filled with laughter and movement as we organized a variety of engaging activities. Different corners were set up for board games, dancing and singing, face painting, Christmas decorations and interactive games, allowing each child to freely choose what they enjoyed the most.
One of the most touching and memorable moments was spending time with the younger children. Their enthusiasm was so contagious that our activities moved from indoors to the yard, where we played football and volleyball together – a match that joyfully ended with the children’s victory. We concluded the visit with dancing, and the children shared their happiness and positive emotions with us, leaving everyone with warm hearts and unforgettable memories.
The end of the previous Team volunteers’ adventures
Our European Solidarity Corps volunteers are slowly coming to the end of their unforgettable two-month journey in Tbilisi.
→ Visits to Ponichala Youth Center
At the beginning of December, our volunteers visited the Ponichala Youth Center, where they organized two engaging and interactive workshops for Georgian and ethnically Azerbaijani children. All activities were adapted to the participants’ age and interests, creating a safe and inclusive environment. By the end of each session, the children were happy and full of energy, and the winners of the games were awarded symbolic gifts.
→ Arts and Crafts Workshop
Creative activities continued with an Arts and Crafts workshop, where children and volunteers prepared New Year decorations together. Participants created Christmas trees and dragons, took part in a crocheting masterclass to make stars, and also used felt to design colorful keychains.
→ Final Reflection and Farewell
On the final day of the project, the group gathered for a reflection meeting, where volunteers revisited the expectations, hopes and fears they had shared on the first day of the project and reflected on their personal development. They were also introduced to the Youthpass certificate and the opportunities it offers for future learning and professional growth. The meeting concluded with a traditional Georgian supra, fun games and emotional goodbyes.
This final stage of volunteering once again demonstrated the strength of the ESC project in connecting cultures, empowering young people and creating friendships that continue beyond borders.
