On February 18th, a workshop was held on the topic of activism, bringing together participants to explore its meaning, key actors and different perspectives.
The session began with a discussion on the definition of activism, where participants identified it as the pursuit of social, political, economic, or environmental change through various forms of engagement. The conversation then moved to the main reasons behind activism, such as human rights violations, environmental concerns and social inequalities. Additionally, the key actors in activism—including policy makers, media, activists and the general public—were analyzed in terms of their roles and impact.
A significant part of the workshop was dedicated to debating controversial opinions on activism. Participants engaged in discussions, exchanging opposing viewpoints on the effectiveness, ethics, and consequences of different activist movements. This segment encouraged critical thinking and open dialogue, allowing participants to explore multiple perspectives.
In the final stage of the workshop, case studies were assigned to smaller groups. Each group worked collaboratively to analyze real-world activism cases and prepared flip chart presentations to summarize their findings. The presentations highlighted various strategies, successes and challenges within different movements, reinforcing the complexity of activism.
The workshop provided a dynamic and interactive learning experience, equipping participants with a deeper understanding of activism and its role in shaping society.
