On Tuesday, 4th March, a special kind of workshop took place in the DRONI office. Our German ESC volunteers Judit and Fynn led a practical session on how to create your own stickers with everyday household materials. First, we talked about the occasions when we use stickers in our lives, for example for decoration, spreading news and most importantly, activism.
After our volunteer Marion initiated a fun energizer about cooperation and team-work, we got into the crafting part of the workshop. The technique is very simple and you can easily follow along at home: There are 4 layers of the sticker. In the bottom, you put some baking paper. On top of it, you then put transparent tape (the one you would use for packages). Next, you add a piece of paper with your design/text on it. Finally, you put another layer of transparent tape on top and cut around the design while leaving a margin of tape around it. When you want to apply your very own sticker, you simple pull off the baking paper and use the sticky side of the first layer of tape!
Our DRONI members showed a great degree of creativity and produced amazing stickers, many of them with inspiring political and personal meanings. Have a look yourself:
