Get Ready Workshop: Discover your Inner Child

Posted on 2 Jun at 7:08 am

The workshop “Meeting Your Inner Child” created a warm and safe space for participants to explore their early memories, emotions, and beliefs. It began with a short introduction to the idea of the inner child and how childhood stories, myths, and messages can shape our thoughts and feelings as adults.

Participants were first invited to complete the sentence “I am Mariam, and in my childhood I heard…” This helped everyone reflect on the messages they grew up with—some comforting, some limiting. It also created a strong sense of connection as people shared personal experiences. In the Memory Box activity, participants worked in small groups to imagine five items from their childhood they would save for their older self. This allowed them to share meaningful stories and reflect on what was important to them as children. To bring in some lightness, the group played the Alias Game (NamioKobana), a fun, team-based activity that encouraged laughter and bonding. It helped everyone relax and feel more comfortable with each other. Later, participants wrote anonymous letters to their inner child. This quiet and private writing exercise gave them a chance to express care, forgiveness, or love to their younger selves.

The workshop ended with a calm “Draw Your Mood” check-in. Using crayons, participants showed how their inner child felt at that moment. This creative activity also served as a unique way to gather feedback without needing words. Overall, the workshop was interactive, emotional, and playful. It helped participants reconnect with themselves and each other through stories, imagination, and gentle reflection.
