On November 26th, our former volunteer Johanna held an interactive workshop about self expression that took all participants on a journey through their emotions. In a comfortable and safe environment, equipped with cookies, candles and relaxing music, participants started to individually reflect on their feelings and state of mind. We then continued to express our inner state creatively through drawing and painting, the results of which we shared with our neighbours. With the help of the wheel of emotions, we took self expression to another level by acting out and guessing specific feelings. Finally, Johanna taught us a helpful method for dealing with overwhelming emotions in everyday situations: the Emotional Freedom Technique can calm us down or fight stress through tapping specific points on our body.
