From July 23rd to August 1st, DRONI members are participating in the youth exchange “The Youth Show” in Andalusia, Spain!
DAY ONE: The participants began their journey with a tour of the organization, gaining insight into its mission and the community-focused activities it leads. They explored spaces where charity items are created and sold, deepening their understanding of the organization’s impact. In the afternoon, they participated in outdoor team-building exercises amidst nature. The day concluded with a vibrant street performance, a city tour, and a group dinner.
DAY TWO: For the first time, participants had the unique experience of walking on stilts, which proved to be quite a success. Divided into teams, they played energizing games in open spaces and engaged in exercises to improve balance. The day ended with a creative challenge—drawing portraits of each other without looking at the paper.
DAY THREE: The morning kicked off with an energizing game of Uno. In the afternoon, they played a reverse race, where the goal was to be the last one to cross the finish line. Later in the day, participants reflected on the competencies they had developed throughout the program and tested their knowledge with a lively game of Kahoot. The day wrapped up with a tasting of traditional Portuguese dishes and desserts.
DAY FOUR: The highlight of the day was a traditional Georgian evening, where participants prepared and shared delicious Georgian dishes and sweets with the group. Despite the challenge of cooking for nearly 40 people, the team succeeded and received excellent feedback.
DAY FIVE: The fifth day was described by participants as the most enlightening and productive. They explored how to create music using everyday objects and were tasked with discovering two new sounds from these makeshift instruments. Working in pairs, they performed music and simultaneously crafted masks for the upcoming performance. The day also featured a yoga masterclass, where participants learned both individual and partner poses.
DAY SIX: The morning began with an energizer, where participants split into two teams and competed in games such as X and O, as well as hopping races on one leg. Later, they resumed stilt training and mask-making, ensuring both skills were ready for their performance. Physical warm-ups preceded the stilting exercises, preparing everyone for the challenge. The day concluded with a lively bingo game, where participants competed to collect names, with three winners emerging victorious.
DAY SEVEN: The group dedicated the day to preparing for the upcoming festival in Granada. Rehearsals were in full swing, with the mask-making team finalizing decorations and accessories, and the music group refining the final song. The evening was capped off with a traditional German dinner, followed by a final stilt rehearsal for the show.
DAY EIGHT: Festival day arrived, and the participants spent the morning in a full dress rehearsal. With handmade masks in hand, they put on a performance that was divided into two parts: theatrical and musical. The theatrical segment featured participants walking on stilts, while the musical performance was led by the participant-formed band. The festival, held in Granada’s bustling city center, was met with enthusiastic applause from a large crowd of spectators.
DAY NINE: On the final day, following the festival in Granada, the participants gave a special performance for the residents of a local village. After the presentation, the program coordinator and the organization’s director awarded certificates of participation and small souvenirs to the group. Overall, the project was a resounding success, with participants gaining valuable skills and creating lifelong memories. Special thanks to our partner organization for their support, and to our dedicated DRONI members for their active engagement throughout the program.
