We spent five days in Kobuleti for our on-arrival training, where we met other volunteers from various European countries contributing to ESC projects around the South Caucasus region. We were greeted by lovely weather, the wonderful seaside and cute stray animals. In the evening we had a little welcome event to socialise with the other participants.Â

During the training, we discussed what ESC is all about and learned more about volunteering, solidarity and active citizenship. Through the activities we got to know each other very well and found out what kind of projects other volunteers in Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan are taking part in. After a day of learning about conflict resolution, non-violent communication and informal education methods, we had the chance to enjoy the wonderful surroundings.

Our last day of training was very exciting. We took Marshrutkas to Batumi where we went up a hill and had a beautiful view onto the whole city before discovering other parts of it. After a fun afternoon in the city, we got back to Kobuleti to have a final evening together.

We gathered for a Supra, a traditional Georgian feast. The night ended with music and dance. The next morning we wished goodbye to the many friends that we had made and got the train back to Tbilisi.
