DRONI Wrapped May 2026

Posted on 13 mins ago

May marked our last full month in the office that held all those brilliant workshops over the last year. Thank you very much for having made that cute apartment the place of many exchanges, debates and meetings. It was also the last month of our Italian volunteers Maljinda and Davide. The wind of spring is blowing over Tbilisi, and the one of changes over DRONI. Ciao maestro.

Local Events

→ Get Ready Workshop: “Invisible War”, 7th May

The workshop Invisible War focused on fake news and disinformation, exploring how false information spreads quickly through media and social networks and how people can identify and avoid it. The participants actively discussed different examples of misleading news stories and learned practical ways to verify information before sharing it. During the workshop, we also analyzed historical posters and propaganda materials, examining how their messages could be interpreted differently at first glance and how visual communication can influence public opinion. The atmosphere was interactive and engaging, with participants sharing their own experiences and viewpoints throughout the activities. As a result, participants developed stronger critical-thinking skills and gained a better understanding of how to recognize and challenge misinformation in everyday life.

→ Get Ready Workshop: “Hiking from Turtle lake to Mtatsminda”, 10th May

On May 10th, we went on a hike from Turtle Lake to Mtatsminda Park. The weather was nice and sunny. During the hike, we had several discussion topics that we talked about in pairs. We listened to music and also had a lovely picnic along the way, where we played some physical games as well. It was a wonderful gathering where we had the chance to meet and spend some time outdoors. It helped the participants feel relaxed and peaceful after the daily routine. At the end of the day, social interaction and being close to nature help people feel better both mentally and physically.

→ Get Ready Workshop: “Cyanotype: Sun & Soul Postcards”, 20th May

The Cyanotype: Sun and Soul Workshop began with a short introduction to the cyanotype process. Participants learned about the history of this unique photographic printing technique, how it works, and why sunlight is an essential part of creating the characteristic deep-blue prints. Several examples were presented to inspire ideas and demonstrate the creative possibilities of cyanotype.

After the introduction, everyone had the opportunity to experiment with the process themselves. In a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, participants arranged natural materials such as leaves and flowers on prepared paper before exposing them to sunlight. Once developed and rinsed, the prints revealed beautiful blue-and-white compositions.

The workshop focused on hands-on learning rather than theory, allowing participants to explore their creativity through experimentation. By the end of the session, each participant had created one or two unique handmade postcards and gained practical experience with the cyanotype technique, as well as new creative inspiration.

→ Get Ready Workshop: “Building Bridges between France and Georgia”, 21th May

→ Get Ready Workshop: “Together for Social Inclusion”, 22th May

On May 22, 2026 DRONI members organized a workshop titled “Youthwork in Georgia and France” at the DRONI office. As part of the “Society Bridge for Social Inclusion” project, they introduced the Erasmus+ program and shared stories from their youth exchange in Marseille. During the session, participants took part in icebreaking games and a station activity to compare youth work in both countries. The event ended with a Kahoot quiz and a reflection session. The workshop aimed to inspire young people to join international projects and learn more about the youth worker profession.

→ Get Ready Workshop: “Play & Go Green”, 27th May

The participants of the Play & Go Green project held a workshop at the Droni Office to share their experiences from the project, as well as the knowledge and skills they gained during the journey. The workshop was divided into three parts. In the first part, participants got to know each other through an energizer activity. They then shared the knowledge they had gained about the basics of entrepreneurship during the project and presented their learning through a presentation.

In the second part, participants took part in a creative brainstorming activity focused on the EntreComp Wheel and its importance. They first selected the two most important competences from each section individually and then continued with group discussions and team brainstorming. In the final part, the day was concluded with a reflection session. Participants were asked to provide feedback and share how they felt during the activities. By the end of the workshop, attendees had gained a better understanding of youth exchanges and training courses, as well as introductory knowledge and inspiration related to entrepreneurship.

→ Get Ready Workshop: “Social engineering : The Art of human hacking”, 29th May

On May 29th, the Youth Association “Droni” hosted an interactive workshop on Social Engineering to address the reality that 90% of major cyberattacks target human psychology rather than software flaws. The atmosphere was vibrant and highly collaborative, with five participants and two volunteers, creating a welcoming space for open discussion. Together, the group explored behavioral manipulation tactics, analyzed how scammers weaponize urgency, authority, and emotion, and even stepped into an attacker’s shoes during a hands-on hacker simulation.

By reverse-engineering these common threats, the youth quickly demystified the psychology behind digital fraud and learned how easily human trust can be exploited. Ultimately, the participants left with sharply heightened digital hygiene awareness and the practical “S.T.O.P. Shield” framework, leaving them fully equipped to pause and defend against real-world manipulation.

Europe day 2026

On 9th May, Youth Association DRONI celebrated Europe Day at Expo Georgia. This year, DRONI was presented with two activity stations, both inside and outside the venue. Visitors had the chance to meet our team, Erasmus+ and ESC volunteers, and DRONI members, learn more about European opportunities, take part in fun activities and win small prizes.

At our outdoor Eurobus station, guests enjoyed face painting, “guess the country by the song” activity, postcard creation, Europe quiz, flag games, darts, escape room and real or fake quizzes about European traditions.

Inside the pavilion, visitors could test their knowledge through quizzes about Erasmus+, the European Solidarity Corps and the European Union, join the 4 Zones Challenge, play EU languages bingo and explore more fun activities about Europe.

We are happy that so many people visited our stations, asked questions, played with us and shared this special day together.

A big thank you to everyone who made Europe Day so special and memorable.

On Europe Day at Expo Georgia, Youth Association DRONI promoted the VOLU-MENT project and shared its main idea with visitors: supporting young volunteers through safer, more inclusive and mentally supportive volunteering spaces.

Throughout the day, we talked with young people, volunteers and visitors about the connection between volunteering and mental well-being. We introduced how volunteering can support confidence, belonging, motivation and active participation, especially when young people receive proper support from mentors, coordinators and youth workers.

To make the topic more interactive, we also prepared a  game about mental well-being and supportive practices in volunteering. Visitors had the chance to reflect on different situations, discuss possible support methods and learn more about how organisations can create a healthier environment for young volunteers.

Europe Day was a great opportunity to bring VOLU-MENT closer to the public and start conversations about why mental health support matters in youth work and volunteering.

The project is funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ programme.

LEVEL Team volunteers’ adventures

Before creating their own escape rooms, our Team ESC volunteers first had to learn how educational escape rooms work.

During a three-day training course, volunteers explored the concept of escape rooms as a tool for non-formal education and youth work. They learned how stories, puzzles and challenges can be connected to educational topics while encouraging teamwork, creativity, communication and problem-solving skills.

After learning the basics, volunteers worked in teams to design their own educational escape rooms. They developed storylines, created tasks and prepared materials to turn their ideas into interactive learning experiences.

The next step was putting theory into practice. On 9 May, during Europe Day celebrations, the volunteers tested their escape rooms with real participants. Visitors had the opportunity to solve puzzles, work together and learn through a fun and engaging game-based approach.

This experience allowed the volunteers to gain practical skills in activity design, facilitation and teamwork, while discovering how creative methods such as escape rooms can make learning more interactive and accessible for young people.

We are excited to see how these newly developed skills and ideas will continue to grow throughout the LEVEL project.

International Projects

→ “Boosting Advocacy”, held in Rabka, Poland

From 1st to 7th May, During the project, young people from different countries learned what advocacy is and how it can affect our daily lives.

So, what is advocacy?

Advocacy means speaking up for the issues that matter to you and taking action to create positive change in your community. It is about turning ideas into action, whether by talking to decision-makers, raising awareness or using facts and strong arguments to support improvements.

During the youth exchange, participants:

Connected with young changemakers from different countries;

Built an international network based on shared values;

Learned how to communicate with decision-makers;

Discovered how to use data and strong arguments to support their ideas;

Explored democratic tools that can help influence real issues affecting young people. This project was not only about sharing opinions. It was about learning how to make those opinions count. Participants left with more confidence, practical skills and motivation to turn their concerns into real impact. From awareness to action, this is what advocacy is all about.

They visited women’s rights organizations in Tunisia and discovered how they empower women, defend their rights and create positive change in society.

The participants also visited organizations working with blind children and centers supporting children with fewer opportunities. These experiences helped us better understand the challenges many people face in their daily lives and the importance of creating an inclusive environment where everyone has equal opportunities.

Through intercultural exchange, discussions and field visits, they learned the value of empathy, solidarity, advocacy and active participation in their communities.

This project reminded the participants that even small actions can make a meaningful difference and that sharing experiences and knowledge can help build a more inclusive society for everyone.

→ “VOLU-MENT – Offline meeting II”, held in Fethiye, Türkiye

From 10 to 14 May, DRONI took part in the second offline meeting of the VOLU-MENT project in Fethiye, Türkiye, hosted by our partner organisation System and Generation.

The meeting brought together partner organisations from Hungary, Georgia, Portugal and Türkiye to reflect on the work completed so far, share national findings and plan the next steps of the project.

During the meeting, partners presented country narrative reports and action plans, discussed the results of volunteering surveys, worked on case studies and started shaping the next project outputs, including the empowering workshop curriculum and practical e-book for youth workers.

The programme also included local visits in Fethiye, where partners met students, volunteers and local organisations working with community support and health-related challenges. These visits helped us better understand how volunteering and mental well-being are connected in different local realities.

VOLU-MENT is an Erasmus+ project focused on the connection between volunteering and mental health. It aims to support young volunteers, strengthen the role of mentors and youth workers, and promote safer, more inclusive and mentally supportive volunteering spaces.

→ “CivicRise: Strengthening Youth Work for Inclusive Participation”, held in Komotini, Greece

From 19 to 27 May 2026, DRONI members participated in the Erasmus+ project that brought together young people from different countries and aimed to highlight the importance of active youth participation, inclusion and equal opportunities.

During the project, participants took part in different activities and discussions on important topics such as access to digital media, inclusiveness and youth unemployment.

As part of the programme, participants also visited the Municipality of Komotini, where representatives of the local authorities introduced different programmes and initiatives aimed at supporting young people. Another interesting meeting took place at the Chamber of Commerce, where participants had the opportunity to share their ideas and talk about how youth participation and support are developed in their own countries.

One of the most meaningful experiences was meeting people with disabilities who play wheelchair basketball. After talking with them, participants also had the chance to try playing wheelchair basketball themselves. This experience helped them better understand the challenges that people with disabilities face in their everyday lives and deepened their respect for their effort, strength and motivation.

A particularly memorable activity for the participants was the 3D printing workshop. During this session, they learned how objects created with a 3D printer can support people with disabilities in their daily lives.

Participants also had the opportunity to try VR glasses. Through this technology, they took part in a simulation of a legislative process, which was a very interesting and unique experience. This activity showed how modern technologies can be used to make learning more interactive and to strengthen civic participation.

The project also included an intercultural evening. Each country presented its culture and traditions. The Georgian group prepared a presentation about Georgian history, culture and art, performed Georgian dances and shared traditional Georgian food with the participants. This evening helped young people learn more about different cultures and create new international friendships.

Taking part in this project was a very interesting and useful experience. During these days, DRONI members gained new knowledge about inclusion, youth work and modern technologies. They also met young people from different countries and gained valuable experience that will be useful for them in the future.
