JUST DO IT – Equality in Sports, A Two-Phase Youth Exchange Experience
We’re thrilled to recount our enriching journey during the Erasmus+ youth exchange week.
From the opening moments of discovery to the heartfelt goodbyes, our program was a testament to the transformative power of collaboration. With a focus on addressing gender-based inequalities through outdoor activities and non-formal education, each day was a blend of exhilaration, knowledge acquisition, and cultural sharing.
Day 1: The scout center echoed with anticipation as participants exchanged greetings, making the surroundings even more lively.
Day 2: The energy was infectious! The Ukrainian and Georgian teams laid the foundation with an invigorating name game. As the day progressed, the Croatian team took the baton, orchestrating an electrifying Capture the Flag game. The day was sealed perfectly with water polo delights and a welcoming evening.
Day 3: Our core objectives shone brightly with an orienteering race centered around gender equality. The day, peppered with critical discussions, a Croatian-driven pantomime, and a soothing yoga session, concluded on a high note with a Georgian cultural soirée.
Day 4: Tbilisi witnessed our group’s thrill as we indulged in go-karting. The day wasn’t just about adrenaline; a scavenger hunt in Old Tbilisi ensured cultural enrichment. An enchanting Ukrainian evening capped the day.
Day 5: The stadium was alive with collective cheers during an engaging football match. The Ukrainian team facilitated a riveting dialogue on gender equality, followed by a Swedish team-led role-play, wrapping up with a memorable Swedish evening.
Day 6: Adventure beckoned, and we responded with an exhilarating rafting session in the Aragvi River. The day’s adventures found balance with a Croatian cultural evening.
Day 7: As our journey neared its conclusion, we channeled our energies into consolidating our experiences, dedicating time to finalize Youth Passes, handbooks, and our film project. Amidst this, the Georgian team crafted a beautiful farewell party, celebrating our shared experiences with the Swedish, Croatian and Ukrainian participants.
Our week was a rich tapestry of joy, exploration, cultural immersion, and pivotal conversations on gender equality. A big salute to every participant and team for weaving this unforgettable narrative!
A heartful note of appreciation to all partners and the entire program for opening up such unique opportunities during these challenging times. Big thanks to Georgian Bus for funding and making sure the Ukrainian team got to the project safely. We’re really grateful for your prompt actions and constant support for social projects.
As a result of this project, a beautiful handbook was created to share what the participants have learned to break stereotypes around genders and sports.
